What type of information is collected?

The Insulin Site Guide app collects and stores the spot locations and photos as supplied by the user to create a layout for site rotation. Also the app collects and stores the history of site choices for the user's pumps, pens, and glucose monitoring devices. Lastly, the app collects and stores some app settings, such as reuse times.

The user can use the camera, access the photo library, or load photos from their iCloud account for use in the app.

No other personal information is collected or stored. The app doesn't contain any advertising or analytics software.

How is this information used?

This information is used by the app to recreate the arrangement of spots about the body as setup by the user. The data allows the app to help guide the user choose new sites and follow a site rotation plan for the user's devices.

How is your data protected?

The information and data is stored on your smart device (an iPhone or iPad) in the app's private directory (also called the sandbox.) No other people or apps have access to this data. The user can copy this data to and from the iCloud (or other third party online storage services, such as Dropbox or Google Drive, if these are installed on your smart device.) The user would want to do this to transfer their app data to another device. Such transfers can only be initiated by the user. All these locations offer state-of-the-art protection for your data, though nothing can be 100% guaranteed.

Is data shared with third parties?

The app doesn't share any information with the developer or any third party.

Does the app use any tracking technologies?

The app doesn't use any tracking technologies and isn't able to communicate with any third party.

How can users control and access their data?

The user can export the app data (spot info, photos, and site history) from the app's private directory to the iCloud for backup or transfer to other devices. The spot information and site history can be deleted from inside the app. Also, deleting the app from the iPhone deletes the app data. Your data is owned by you alone. The app allows you to access, transfer, and delete any data collected by the app.

But, it is not recommended to delete any data less than a month or two old, as the app needs this to help guide the user with proper site rotation.

It's possible to email your app data as an attachment. But this can only be initiated by the user. This app is being used in several clinical trials. In this case, the user may email their data to the trial organizers. This can only occur with users who are participating in the study. Again, only the user can initiate a data transfer. The app can not do this by itself.
